Changes in our pond!

We would like to welcome Chelsey Swan to our pond beginning on Monday.  She will be working in both the preschool as well as the JK/SK room.  We are all very excited to have her!

On a sad note we have to say goodbye to Ms. Jenna.  She will be leaving us to go and work in the school board, but will be back to supply for us occasionally.  We hope that she enjoys her new position.

Holiday Food Drive!

Help Tiny Hoppers pack the CTV pods with non-perishable food for the holidays!  Items will be taken to CTV on December 13th!  Don't forget to watch for Tiny Hoppers who will be hopping on over to present the food!

Parent's Night Out Tomorrow!

Join us for some fun games, crafts and a movie at tomorrows Parent's Night Out!  Only $15 per child for our member and $20 for non-members! We hope to see you all there!

All of us at Tiny Hoppers would like to say a big THANK YOU to Cpt. Pratt who came in to talk about Remembrance Day with us on Monday.  All of the children loved to see the different parts of his uniform and kit that he brought in! 

2012 Santa Claus Parade!

Again this year Tiny Hoppers Bridlewood and Tiny Hoppers Kanata North will be teaming up to take part in the Kanata Santa Claus Parade!  The parade is taking place on Saturday, November 17 stating at 10am.  We would love to see all of our families come out and walk with Froggles on the parade route!  Part of the parade is also a food drive.  We would welcome any and all non-perishable food items that we can donate to the Kanata Food Cupboard.

Halloween Party

Please send the children in their Halloween costume for our Halloween party on Wednesday!  Please do not send any mask or pieces with the because we would not want tears on Halloween night if things went missing!

Open House Sat. Oct. 20th!

Join us in celebrating 5 years of fun on Saturday, Oct. 20th from 10am-1pm!  We will have lots of fun activities for the children to participate in including face painting, Froggles, the public library,a scholastic book fair and Little Rays Reptiles!  This is sure to be a hopping time!

Don't forget tomorrow (Wednesday, Oct. 10) is picture day!  We hope to see everyone here with their smiling faces!

Thanksgiving lunch!

Thank you to everyone who is brought in an item for our Thanksgiving potluck lunch!  Our children had a wonderful time and we are already looking forward to our holiday one in December!

Just a reminder that our Thanksgiving Feast is this Thursday at 12pm for our Full day children as well as our JK/SK children!  If you have forgotten what you have signed up to bring the list is posted on the desk beside the sign in binder.   Please ensure that all items are nut and sesame free!

Congratulations to all of our Tiny Hoppers who completed the Terry Fox Runs at their schools on Thursday, 27!  All of your teachers are so proud of you for participating! 

We would also like to wish good luck to all of our teachers and parents who are running in the Run for A Cure on Sunday.  We are hoping for sunny weather for you!

Scholastic Orders Are Due!

Just a note that Scholastic orders are due this Friday (September 21st).  These orders are a great way to increase your child's library at a fraction of the cost that you would spend at a book store!

Just a few quick reminders!

We are off to a great first few weeks of school!  Just a few quick reminders to keep everything running smoothly!
-please make sure that you are signing your child in and out every day
-please label all of your child's clothing, we are already starting to get quite a collection in our lost and found bins.
-our centre closes at 5:30pm.  After this time it is $1.00 per minute which you are late!
-please check and initial your child's daily communication booklet each day.  Any important notes will be placed in these books!

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to talk to myself (Shaunna) either in the centre or though email or phone.  I am always available to answer any questions/concerns that you may have! 

We are currently looking to add to our multicultural clothing bin.  If you have or know of anyone who has a cultural clothing or costume that they would like to donate please let us know!

We have had a great first week of school at Tiny Hoppers!  Just a few reminders for our parents!
-Our JK/SK children that are here for rest time require a yoga mat to rest on.  Please make sure that you have labelled your child's name on it!
-Please ensure that your child has indoor shoes, slippers or socks every day!

Welcome to Tiny Hoppers! We would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our Hopper Families. We have a year of wonderful activities planned for everyone and we can't wait to get started. This month, we will be spending the first two weeks of school helping the children become comfortable with their new environment as well as all of the new routines :)

It is very important that we have all of your child's necessary information. Please see me (Shaunna) if you are unsure of what forms are still outstanding. Thank you in advance.

Remember to please ensure that all of your child's belongings are labelled, this includes school bag, lunch bag, jacket , shoes, lunch containers, water bottle...etc)

Don't forget to bring an extra set of clothing in a ziploc bag as well.

Please check the blog regularly for updates.

Please ensure that all children have a refillable water bottle, sun hat and change of clothes.  Please also ensure that your child has a sturdy pair of outside shoes for playing at the park.

The summer is off to a sizzling start!  Our All Star Sports camp was a hit.  This week we are blasting off to space!  On Wednesday we will be heading to Cosmic Adventure for some tunnel and slide fun.  All children must have socks, if not there will be a charge of $2.  We are also will be hosting an Out of This World Variety show for the parents this Friday at 4:15pm.  

It's that time of year again!  We will once again be cleaning out the cubbies for summer!  Please have all of your child's belongings cleaned out by Friday, June 29.  We will have a bucket for sunscreen for the children that will be remaining with us in the summer.  Please also double check the water bottles on the ledge as we have many unclaimed ones! 

For September we will be setting up a technology center for our children.  If over the summer you plan on replacing your computer, we would love it if you would donate your old item(s) to Tiny Hoppers...thanks in advance!

A great big thanks to all of the parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts and siblings that joined us at our Nursery School graduation yesterday.  It was wonderful to see such a large turnout for our Nursery School graduates.  Congratulations to all of the graduates who put on such a great performance!  All of the staff at Tiny Hoppers want to wish them the greatest success in their first year of kindergarten!

Join us at the annual WOMFEST held at W.O. Mitchell Elementary School this Saturday from 10am-2pm.  Make sure you hop over to try out our bouncy castle while enjoying the sunshine tomorrow!

Join us for our last Parent's Night Out of the 2011-2012 school year this Friday, June 15! The children will enjoy a night of games, crafts, play class and a movie while you enjoy a night out!  Only $15 per child for members.  Please let a teacher know if you are interested in joining us!

Our Tiny Hoppers are leaving the pond!

Don't forget our Nursery School graduation is on Wednesday, June 20 from 10-11.  Please have your child at Eva James Community Center for 9:45 so that we can prepare them for their big show!  Please have them dressed in their favourite outfit.  If you would like to bring a nut-free treat for the children to enjoy after the show please feel free to do so!

We are making Pet Rocks

Please send in one large rock with your child's name on it by Friday for an upcoming craft project.  If you have any extra rocks feel free to send them in as well!

Sunny days with tons of outdoor play are in our future!!! Just a reminder to everyone to be sure to put sunscreen on your child, in the morning, and make sure that they bring a sun hat for outdoor play time. Thanks so much.

June is an exciting month for us at Tiny Hoppers!  We will be finishing up our Fun with Frogs unit and then setting up our camp sites for our Camp Out theme!  During our Camping them the children will be learning new camp songs, playing camp games and even having an extra special camp treat!

Just a reminder, if you do not already have your summer camp registration forms in please send them in as soon as possible.  Spaces are filling up fast.

Our Nursery School Graduation will be held on Wednesday, June 20th at the Eva James Community Centre.  Please have your child there at 9:45am, the show starts at 10am!  Our Tiny Hoppers are encouraged to wear their favourite outfit!

For an upcoming craft project we are in need of empty paper towel and toilet paper rolls.  Please send in what you can collect by June 6th!  

We have some spaces left for Sept...so if you have any friends or family looking for quality care please send them our way....thanks!

News from our pond!!

We have just received three real live tadpoles!  In the next few weeks our Hopper friends will have the opportunity to watch our tadpoles grow into full grown frogs!  Feel free to hop into our classroom for a peek!

Just a reminder!
All children must wear socks or slippers inside Tiny Hoppers.  Please ensure your child has socks EVERY DAY!

Welcome

We are really excited to be moving to a more convenient form of communication with our parents! The blog will contain important information pertaining to our centre. Please visit the site regularly so as to not miss out on any of the hoppin' things happening at Tiny Hoppers!

The month of May will be taking us on a Teddy Bear Picnic.  We ask that each child bring in one furry friend that they can leave for the duration of the unit.  The final week of May has us leaping into the wonderful world of frogs.  We will be learning about the life cycle of frogs and the different habitats that frogs live in.  We are also exicted to raise our very own frog right from a tadpole!  Make sure you look for the pictures as our frog grows!

 On May 11th we will be holding our 4th annual.  Mother's Day Tea Party. Please send your child in their favourite outfit. The children will be performing their favourite songs for their moms. The show starts at 10. All nursery school students are welcome.
